hungry soul

there's a hungry soul
who will never settle down,
seems like he's always looking sideways
to try and catch me out
jagged as a cut thin to the bone
a good enough reason to leave well alone
dark is its soul, wild and alone,
artful as a kiss, tender as a stone

he slides through the room
waiting for the careless words
we leave behind when kind words have come and gone.
lazy as the wind callous and cold
a good enough reason to leave well alone
fluid with belief, his fiction unfolds,
quick with his feet, when the cover is blown.

he wouldn't walk around,
when its easier to cut straight through.
he has a sixth sense shadow
creeping round my secret room.
meagre with trust, a snarl on the phone,
a good enough reason to leave well alone.
crazy as youth, as slow as a moan
sweet with revenge, don't speak to soon.

he smothers every truth
with a sigh and a pleasing grin.
he will sell you maybe's
where the facts would fit straight in.
quiet as a blade, your memories sold,
a good enough reason to leave well alone.
hard as a grudge, stupidly thin
won't give up if you always give in.
